COOLBELLUP COMMUNITY SCHOOL

HAVE YOU PAID YOUR VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS YET?

Your voluntary financial contributions to our school helps us help your child/ren in a variety of ways. Your contributions enable the purchase of resources to assist with students’ literacy and numeracy development, library resources, sports equipment, technology resources and resources to support social and emotional growth.

Minimum voluntary contributions are as follows:

One student $40

Two students $50

Three or more students $60

Sixty dollars is the maximum voluntary contribution in WA. Please feel free to contribute up to that amount.

WEATHER WATCH

Remember, Remember – 2nd April (Channel 9) - Our wonderful school will be the weather watch students for the week reporting on temperatures and rainfall.

EASTER HAT PARADE THURSDAY 5 APRIL 2pm

Our planned Easter Hat Parade will be held on Thursday, 5 April at 2pm in the undercover area. The parade is to celebrate creativity and Easter. You are encouraged to join in with your child/ren and make a special hat together. The hat making exercise is not a competition but rather a celebration of tradition and the end of term.

LITERACY BLOCK

Some parents may be aware we are implementing Literacy Blocks throughout the school three times per week. A literacy block is an uninterrupted period of time which gives teachers time to implement  the components of effective literacy programmes, including ongoing assessment, targeted or differentiated instruction, and student based, open-ended activities that encourage higher-order thinking strategies. Literacy Block covers all areas of Literacy – modelled reading, shared reading, guided reading, independent activities, modelled writing, guided writing and independent writing. If you have any queries please see your child’s classroom teacher.

SDD (School Development Days – 23rd and 24th April)

All staff are due back at work on Monday 23rd April – we will continue working on whole school planning. On Tuesday 24th April all teaching staff will be off site at South Fremantle Senior High School. Only skeleton office staff will be at school on this day.

FAREWELL and WELCOME

After many years of supporting our school community, Ms Brenda Fletcher has resigned her position of Canteen Manager to pursue alternative employment. We cannot thank Brenda enough for all she has done over the years to assist in the smooth running of the canteen and many other avenues of support. We are fortunate that Brenda will still be involved with the P & C and canteen in the role of Canteen Treasurer. At the commencement of Term 2 Ms Calley Roberts will take over the position of Canteen Manager. As always, help is welcome in the canteen, and I am sure Calley would appreciate hearing from any parent/carer with a few hours to spare on a Thursday or Friday when the canteen is open.
